Snowflake is a cloud-based data warehousing platform that provides a fully managed service that handles infrastructure provisioning, maintenance, software upgrades, performance tuning, security patching automatically so you can focus on your business needs instead of managing infrastructure yourself. It separates compute from storage so you can scale them independently based on your workload requirements without any downtime or performance degradation. It supports standard SQL queries using ODBC/JDBC drivers or web UIs such as Snowflake Web UI or third-party tools such as Tableau or Power BI. You can use it to store structured or semi-structured data such as JSON or Avro files in various formats such as CSV or Parquet files in multiple regions across the world with strong security features such as multi-factor authentication (MFA), role-based access control (RBAC), network isolation (VPC), encryption at rest/in transit using customer-managed keys (CSEK) or bring your own key (BYOK)
